Architecture & Interior Design

DVA Architecture provided architectural and interior design services for an indoor rooftop horticultural therapy suite adjacent to Angie’s Garden, a year-round rooftop healing garden, which is a part of the Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. This transformative project provides patients with a year-round place to enjoy nature-based activities with the support of a horticultural therapist and physical therapists.

The colorful and whimsical custom millwork with ample storage for supplies, expansive multi-station trough sink for easy access and cleanup, adjustable height tables, interactive white board and magnetic writing wall were incorporated to support the use by children of all ages and abilities. In collaboration with local artist, Artisan Architectural Ceramics and Restoration, the glass tile mosaic “The Four Seasons of Healing” was incorporated into the design and is a focal point of the space.

The integrated design elements collectively enhance the experience for exploration, learning, and growth within The Horticultural Therapy Suite to create an environment that is an extension of the healing process.
