UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS RAINBOW BABIES & CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL HORTICULTURAL THERAPY SUITE

VAA provided architectural design services for a year-round rooftop horticultural therapy suite adjacent to Angie Garden. The project included the renovation of a former foyer and office area into a 600 SF gardening therapy area for young patients to engage in plant-based activities with trained therapists. The new space was designed with accessibility in mind, featuring a trough sink for easy clean up, adjustable height tables to accommodate visitors of every age, ample storage for gardening supplies, and an interactive white board and magnetic writing wall to help promote exploration, learning, and growth. VAA worked with a local artist, commissioned by University Hospitals, to create a custom glass tile mural feature for the space.
