CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT WILBUR WRIGHT RENOVATION

VAA led the team in providing architectural, interior design, and technology services for the renovation of Wilbur Wright Elementary School. Exterior improvements included upgrades to the parking lot with new site fencing, partial masonry repairs and cleaning, and new monument sign. The interior renovations included the painting of all rooms and corridors, reconfiguration of the existing central office, ADA restroom upgrades in existing restrooms, cafeteria upgrades, and new furniture throughout the building. Several areas throughout the building were reconfigured to accommodate new classrooms and offices, as well as a new STEM lab. Renovations also included upgrades to the existing auditorium, featuring new stage lighting, curtains, balcony seat repairs, and sound system, as well as upgrades to the gymnasium, which included new bleacher seating, an office, and storage room.

VAA’s design team worked with CMSD to develop new classroom furniture standards to be utilized not only on this project but also to be implemented district wide in future renovations and new construction projects. The design team also created unique graphic elements for the space, including custom wayfinding signage and inspirational wallcoverings. The building also received significant systems upgrades including the removal of the existing boiler heating system with radiators, installation of new HVAC system, new electrical service, new LED interior lighting, and plumbing.
